I think we, well at least I, often misunderstood these verses:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you fill find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
and the following verses:
“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if the asks for a fish, will give him a snake?”
We tend to look into the first verses and make ourselves believe that He will give everything we asks. But we, well at least I, often overlook the following. Jesus said clearly that if we ask for bread, he will not give a stone. But doesn’t mean that he will always give us a bread. He might give us, I don’t know, potatoes maybe. Or pasta. Or maybe some flour or even grains so we could make bread.
He might not give exactly what we ask for.
