soundtrack of my life
Music has always been an important part of my life. Through my almost-twenty years, I’ve heard quite a lot of music. Little by little, I learned to distinguish good music and not-so-good ones. These are some memorable (and good) ones
- Edelweiss
My mum said this was my favorite song when I was 5 or 6. I cannot remember exactly, but when I listened to this song again after many years, I suddenly knew why I like this song. It’s just beautiful. You can almost see that beautiful flower in your mind. - Imagine
Again, my mum said I like this song very much, which has raised some concern, because she was afraid that I would think like John Lennon, wishing that there were no religions. Thankfully, I didn’t understand the lyric when I was little. And when I listened to it again, I’m old enough to understand to just listen to the music and don’t bother the lyric. - Di Doa Ibuku
Did you know the song? It was sung by Nikita, an Indonesian Christian singer. I knew the lyric was good, but I didn’t realize how true it is until so many years. Love my mama!
- My Heart Will Go On
Yeah that Titanic song. I always remember this song as the first English song which I wrote down the lyric by memory almost perfectly. - Like A Rose
I’m quite sure you don’t know this song. This was a boyband song, back to my pre-teen period. Well yes I liked their look, and I adored them because they’re cute *everybody’s been on that phase, rite?*. But anyway, this is a beautiful song, a very mellow and cheesy one, but I like it. - Flying without wings
Another boyband song, but I think this one is well-known and well-acknowledged. Yes it’s a westlife song and first I liked it because Nicky was really cute
. - Russian Dance
It was a classic piece from “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky. I first heard it in a ballet class before mine. I was amazed by this beautiful and cheerful piece. One of my all-time classic favorites. - Faint
My junior high times is my Linkin Park phase. Yep that full-of-anger and rebellious songs. I think we can blame puberty for this. Also, Rob Bourdon is gorgeous. hahaha. “Faint” is my favorite among their songs. I love the intro and I think their video was cool. - I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing
Believe it or not, the first time I heard this song is because I bought a CD full of illegal mp3s and the first song is this one great song, so everytime I put the CD on the player, it will play this song first. Then I started to like it, until now ^^ - Hard to Say I’m Sorry
First I heard it because the marching band (PSUMB) played it. The melody was wonderful, catch my ears almost immediately. Then I started searching for this song, and the lyric is just make it even better. - White Flag
By Dido. Actually it was a song dedicated for a friend of mine, to encouraged her to not giving up. After some time, I started to like this song also. Yes I will not give up if it comes to love - Hero
This one wasn’t Mariah Carey’s. This is sung by Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott, from Spider-Man soundtrack. Love this song as much as I love the movie. - The Way You Look At Me
Moving on to senior high, 1st grade. This one is for the memories, not for the music. It was a very pop-mainstream song and also a very cheesy one. But again, it’s because of the memories. - My Happy Ending
This is my all-time favorite Avril Lavigne song. Well yeah I’ve just had a bad breakup at that time, and it’s just suited me. Although it was not a happy ending, but through this song I convinced myself to be strong, and go on with my life. - Negeri di Awan
A masterpiece by Indonesian musician Katon Bagaskara. I have heard it before, but it was the version on Latihan Bersama 2006 which has stuck in my head ever since. - If I Never Get to Heaven
By Javier. Again, a love song. Blame my dominant melancholic side. Although the title is not quite true, because we, who believes, will go to heaven, but it’s just very sweet. - Bohemian Rhapsody
Too bad I heard this song a bit too late, after 17 years of my life, I guess. Well cannot blame me, I was raised in a not-so-musical family, even though my mum is a loyal fan of The Beatles. Anyway, better late than never, rite? This song is definitely a masterpiece. Thank God for this song. It has been my favorite song ever since. - If I Ain’t Got You
A love song by Alicia Keys. It doesn’t sound cheesy to me, yet it sounds like a strong, independent woman confess to her true love that whatever achievement she received, it matters nothing without him. I always wanted to be a strong woman, but I know once I fall in love, I will be as weak as the dandelion seeds. - Hold On
By Jet, from Spider-Man 2, the best Spider-Man movie. The lyric just suited me line by line, about the struggles I’ve been through, to be someone I wanted to be. But then it reminds me that even when it’s hard to be myself, doesn’t mean that I have to be someone else. I have to be myself, even when I do not have much to hold on to. - Yesterday
There is no logic reason why I like this song. The lyric told us to hide and look at the past. The melody, just a simple guitar at a glance. I guess I just have fallen for this song. - All About Loving You
A song by Bon Jovi. My love for this strongly affected by the video, and of course, the lyric. - The Dancer
A piece by Levi Gunardi, an Indonesian pianist. This song almost always makes me cry, missing my beautiful home country. Simply magnificent. - Love for a child
A song by Jason Mraz in ‘we sing, we dance, we steal things’. In fact, I love all the songs in the album. But for this one, it’s for the lyric. - Up Is Down
From Pirates of the Caribbean 3’s soundtrack. Love the auxiliaries and percussion background, also the low brass, and the trumpets, and the violins…simply just love it! - Go Down Moses
Probably none of you know this song. This is one of the songs performed in the Choir Concert 2008, when I was still a member. I forgot the details about this song, but I remember the melody and the lyric. It’s a song about ensuring Moses to go to Pharaoh and force him to let the Jewish go out of Egypt.
.
the list goes on…will continue tomorrows…enough for today I guess
